Dress Code Policy 25 - 26

DRESS CODE

The local school and district reserve the right to modify this policy as necessary and reserve the right to determine what might be disruptive and unsafe. Students in violation of the dress code will be required to call a parent to bring clothing.

General Guidelines: 

  • Clothing should be age-appropriate and suitable for a learning environment 
  • Attire should allow for freedom of movement without requiring constant adjustment
  • Clothing should not be excessively tight or revealing
  • Clothing should not contain profane, vulgar, or offensive language or imagery, or symbols associated with violence or gangs. 

Specific Examples: 

  • Tops - Shirts should have straps of at least two fingers wide and cover the chest and back from arm to arm. They should not expose undergarments, cleavage, or the midriff. 
  • Bottoms - Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be mid-thigh in length or longer, and worn at the waist. Pants should fit securely at the waist and should not be ripped or torn in a way that reveals undergarments. 
  • Footwear - Shoes must be worn at all times and should be safe for the school environment 
  • Headwear - Hats, headscarves, and hoods are generally not allowed inside the building, with exceptions for religious or medical reasons. 
  • Accessories - Jewelry, chains, or other accessories that could be considered weapons or disruptive are prohibited. 
  • No pajamas, loungewear, nightwear, or slippers may be worn.
