Parent & Family Compact 26-27

Each school that receives Title I, Part A funding must work together with parents to create a School-Parent Compact, which is a written agreement explaining how the school, parents, and students will share the responsibility for supporting student learning and helping every child succeed. As part of the school’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan, the compact outlines what the school will do to support learning, what parents can do at home, how students will take responsibility for their own learning, and how families and the school will partner to help children meet the state’s academic standards. The goal of the compact is to ensure that everyone understands their role in helping students achieve their best.

Commitment From Our School

Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s challenging State academic standards.

Penn Griffin will hire highly qualified teachers to deliver curriculum and instruction. Professional Development opportunities will be provided for teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge. We will use various instructional strategies and materials to cater to the diverse learning needs of all students. Our instructional will be driven by the data that we will gather after each assessment.

Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.

Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.

Penn Griffin will send progress reports home every 4.5 weeks and report cards every 9 weeks. Parent conferences will take place twice during the school year. Curriculum Night will be held during the first semester and End of Grade (EOG) Prep Night during the second semester. The school will maintain consistent communication with parents and families through newsletters, social media platforms, Canvas announcements, parent-teacher conferences, and ongoing opportunities that encourage meaningful engagement between teachers and families.

Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.

Teachers and staff are accessible through email and phone communication on most school days to ensure timely support and collaboration with families. Parent-Teacher conferences can be held, as requested by the parents, via phone call or in person. ClassDojo will be used for two-way communication between the parents and teachers to provide updates and strengthen school-to-home communication.

Provide parents with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities.

At Penn Griffin, we truly value the partnership we share with our families. Parents and families are always welcome in our school community! If you would like to schedule a conference with a teacher or visit a classroom, you should reach out to the teacher in advance so they can make the necessary arrangements. This helps us protect valuable instructional time and ensure a smooth experience for everyone.
